Autumn leaves
Here are a couple of shots of the autumn leaves laying all around the yard. They are quite attractive upon close inspection. The only negative about the colorful fall season is the work required to rake all the leaves and put them in bags for the city to remove.
This year I may procure a leave mulcher and thereby reduce the number of leaf bags I need to buy. Primarily it will reduce the number of bags I need to fill. I have to finish the leaf raking before the snow falls and covers the ground, not to mention covering the bricks for the fire pit.

Fire pit fun
A couple of weeks my sweet wife entered a drawing for a fire pit. She actually won! She informed me that it was a circle of bricks inside which one burns wood. Our neighbors don't have a fire pit but they frequently sit around a bonfire and drink beer. So, I guess we could sit around a fire pit and do something. In reality we would never sit around a fire outside and do anything. Anyway, I went to pick up the pit last weekend. I thought the fire pit would be a few small bricks. Well, here are some pictures the the ordeal.
This is only half the amount of bricks required for the pit. I realized that the car was close to maxed out on weight capabilities so I left with a partial load. This fire pit was turning into a nightmare. I had to make two trips to the landscape company (Beauchamps, in case anyone needs bricks). It is about 20 miles one way. Here's a picture of my chassis riding low on the springs.
Here is the after I unloaded it picture.

I took the Jeep Liberty for the second trip. I managed to move all the bricks next to the house for safe keeping. Safe from what I don't know. Who would steal bricks? They're heavy.
I need to mention that I also received a heavy bag of gravel or something to line the bottom of the fire pit. Winning a drawing for something free is generally a good thing, but a pile of bricks is doubtful. Plus don't forget the bag of gravel, also heavy. I let you know if anything develops regarding the fire pit.

gardening
I have included these pictures of the only flowers that I have. I don't really like to care for plants much. They either make it or they don't. The little rose below keeps coming back every year. The chrysanthemums also bloom every year. I guess the most significant thing I do for the flowers is not hit them with the mower.
strategic set up

This picture is interesting in its view of the cycle of life. I took the picture at night so you don't see any activity. On the right side of the basement window is a yellow jacket next (lower right corner) and on the left is a spider web. Although not visible in this shot there a couple of yellow jackets in the web. I have left the window with this arrangement all summer. It seemed fair to both the bees and the spider.

Another day
I don't yet understand all the aspects of blogging, but I think I will give it a try.
Well, Trisha, so far you are the only person to respond to my blog. That's a start. I see that your blog is written to anyone who may be reading it. Mine is only written to me and you I guess.
The trees are turning. so it is nice to see the colors.

Groan
I didn't want to start a blog. I lack the writing skills necessary to maintain an interesting blog. I also lack the lifestyle that others would find interesting. I started it primarily to be able to respond to other blogs.
I took a 41 question test to determine what kind of career I should follow according to my personality. It responded that I should be a mechanical engineer. Well, I'm glad for the confirmation. Although I'm not doing mechanical engineering stuff these days.
